A Weekend in Seattle

A Weekend in Seattle

E and I have officially decided we’re trading in birthday gifts for birthday trips. So last weekend we packed our bags, dropped the little lady off with her aunt and uncle and headed to the airport for 3 kid free days of sleeping in, leisurely strolling the city streets, and eating warm meals without playing defense to flying crayons, meltdowns, and food tornadoes.  Don’t get me wrong I love the chaos of our daily life but a quite break was desperately need and some quality couple time was such a treat! ^^^I felt it was fitting to start our trip off to Seattle with a Starbucks coffee for the plane ride (decaf of course, which pains me but with baby onboard it’s better than nothing).  However, after the craziness of trying to pack, get everyone a schedule, and dealing with the guilt of leaving a 13 month old home while we were away I could of used a triple everything and a side of bloody mary!^^^ It wouldn’t be a trip to Seattle without a stop at Pike’s Place Market.  E actually ended up booking us a room at the Moore Hotel, I’ll admit I was skeptical about staying there as the reviews were either stellar or not so flattering and the hotel has both private rooms and rooms at a lower rate with a shared common bathroom.  Being 5 months prego my own bathroom was a non-negotiable, so we opted for the private room and it was great; clean, super convenient (2 blocks from the market), and the staff was really nice. I know it’s beyond touristy of me to say that I love Pike’s Place Market but I really do love it, the flowers alone are enough for a daily stroll through it And the fruits and veggie displays make me want to eat only apples and salads for the rest of my like, I mean really how amazing does everything look? ^^^The amazing La Panier french bakery is also located in the market, the line is usually long but totally worth the wait^^^ On Friday night we headed to the Mariners game because if you know E, if there is a professional sporting event going on while we’re on vacation I guarantee we’ll be at it!  I’ve grown to love this about him, there is something magical about baseball stadiums and while I admittedly spend most of my time people watching over actually watching the game I love the whole experience. On Saturday morning we walked to the Space Needle as E had never been to Seattle and felt like it was something he should do.  Along the way we stopped at Dahlia Bakery, which again was AMAZING!  This cute little spot was recommended in almost all of the bloggers on their Seattle City Guides, and it did not disappoint!  It’s a miracle I didn’t gain 50lbs on this trip! Well here it is, the Space Needle. Funny that we walked all the way there but didn’t actually go up it.  I was just fine with it though as we strolled around the grounds and sat on the lawn for a bit, which any parent of a toddler knows is a gift.  To have the afternoon to leisurely walk through the city was so much fun....

Monday Makes Me Long for the Weekend

Monday Makes Me Long for the Weekend

I always find the Monday after a great weekend the hardest day of the week. As I sit at my desk I long for lazy mornings with Charlie and Boz piled on the bed and those first morning giggles out of her tiny lips, coffee on the front porch, and the anticipation of what the day may bring. This weekend was especially great with crafting, farmers markets, art festivals, patio lunches, and evening bike rides. Lately I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with the daily grind and this weekend was exactly what I needed, no house projects, no agendas or planned social events, just our little fam adventuring wherever the day took us. ^^^ these two^^^ ^^^ask her how old she is and she promptly respond by showing you she’s ONE^^^ ^^^her dad bought her this gem for her birthday, it was almost as cute watching how excited he was to build it with her as her hiding all the screws on him^^^ ^^^alot of this has been happening lately, I think she loves him^^^ ^^^ those lips ^^^ ^^^ one of our favorite summer activities, bikes and snowcones are pretty much the best...

Charlie’s First Birthday

Charlie’s First Birthday

Our sweet baby girl, Charlie Rowan, turned one this past weekend!!  How did that happen?!  It seems like just yesterday she came into our lives with her little luscious lips, big round eyes, and feisty little personality.  To say we adore her would be a huge understatement.  I never new a love so big and overwhelming until I became this little ladies mama. This weekend was all about Charlie, and we tried our best to pack it full of all her favorite things!  Needless to say E and I were winded to say the least by the time she went to bed on Sunday night.     Pancakes at Eggs in the City.  Somehow this girl has already decided that she discriminates on what types of pancakes are worthy to eat.   Running through sprinklers with pops, and a day at the beach….which pretty much took the cake!  This little bug would live at the beach if she could!  Dirt to play in and water is pretty much her heaven on earth, if there is one thing this little lady isn’t afraid of it’s getting dirty!  We invited our family to celebrate and a few close friends and the day was a huge success.  Both the kiddos and adults had a great time, and most importantly Charlie loved it! ^^^ I can’t even begin to tell you how blessed I feel to have this little family of mine!  I’m not really sure what I did to deserve them, but somehow in this crazy world they are mine and I’ll never give them...

When Saturdays Start at 6

When Saturdays Start at 6

Parenthood brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “sleeping in” these days 6:30 feels like a treasure. But more commonly Charlie likes to make sure we’re up and ready to play by 6, an hour I use to never imagine I would see on a Saturday morning! The plus side to this is by 10am we’ve accomplished more than I use to get done in entire weekend days! ^^^like morning crafting and coffee^^^ ^^^followed by trips to the farmers market, costco, and target^^^ It’s strange to suddenly be the first people to show up and to be checking opening times rather than closing...

CharlieRo Growing Up

CharlieRo Growing Up

This sweet thing is about to turn 1 in less than a week and as we approach this mile stone I’m filled with mixed emotions. On one hand I can’t believe we made it! We didn’t burn the house down, Bozley never missed a meal, we survived nights of 3 hours of sleep, my boobs finally stopped leaking like the Niagra Falls and we all still love each other! Hallelujah, we survived, have all of our limbs, smiles on our face, and still want to hangout together! Because let’s be honest there were times this year when Charlie turning one felt like a lifetime away! But on the other hand my little bug is growing up so fast! The snuggling for hours has turned into tornado spins and 20 second snugs when I’m lucky. The learning to sit up, rolling over, first smiles, first laughs, starting to crawl, and standing and climbing for the fist time, those moments have passed. That sweet little baby we brought home from the hospital is turning into a little person. A real life person. Her little personality is starting to show, she’s fiercely determined, adventurous like her father, and sweet and gentle. She adores her furry brother Bozley and I’m pretty convinced she thinks she’s a dog or he’s a human. Only 5 days away I find myself avoiding this event. Which feels like some sort of life milestone. Typically I would jump at the chance to plan a party, design invites, gather the troops up, and have a hell of a time, with each and every detail thought out. But here we are 5 days out and I’ve barely sent a text out inviting a small, intimate group of friends and family to a beach party. No theme, no pretty details, no fancy invitations, just a celebration of this amazing little human doing exactly what I believe she would want to be doing on her birthday. Playing in the dirt and swimming in the water. I hope she doesn’t resent me one day for not going all out on her first birthday but in a weird, unexplainable way a small gathering at the beach with the people she knows and loves just seems right. It almost feels like I somehow know this is what she wants, because after all she is one and when you’re one dirt, sand, and water trump fancy garland and place settings! So I’m pushing my guilt aside for not decorating the hell out of this and I’m approaching Saturday with so much joy and gratitude, and a few tears that my sweet baby girl, Charlie Rowan is on her way to toddler...

Charlie Rowan | First Weeks

Charlie Rowan | First Weeks

A quick little brain dump of all of the amazing things (and a few not so amazing) that have happened during the first 2 and a half weeks…. Charlie is opening her eyes more and more. I love this precious time with her when she stares at things with such intent. I wish I knew what she was thinking during these little moments. She makes the most hilarious face I’ve ever seen! Her little furrowed brow and old man face kill me! And she’s definitely a tongue sticker-outer so boys be ware!! We had our first projectile poop! Didn’t even know that was possible! Ask Ian for the full story! I’ll spare you a photo of that! We ventured to our first Bee’s game and she did great! Sang our first Take Me Out to the Ball Game! Charlie started moving her head from side to side and grasping on to shirts, hair, and even attempting to figure out how to keep her binki in her mouth! Charlie got her first baths…some were a success, some not so much!! Once she could be fully submerged she enjoyed them way more! She also peed or pooped through every towel we’ve put her...

So proud of her, but sad she’s already growing so fast! Soon all of her cute little newborn outfits will be outgrown!! Where does the time...

Charlie Rowan | Welcome to the World

Charlie Rowan | Welcome to the World

People tell you that your world will change when this little babe you’ve been carrying around for the past 9 months decides to make an appearance but I don’t think you can truly understand what that means until the instant that little one enters the world. Yes, everything changes but in this unbelievable I would do anything for this tiny being kind of way. You re-evaluate everything you thought you knew about life and instantly they are the center of your world. I find it hard to think of anything or one else that could waltz in and completely disrupt your life, a life you’ve spent years to find balance in, a good routine, and one you’ve filled with people you love, and not resent that source of disturbance. Yet, somehow there’s not a single once of resent. As cliche as it is I would give up anything for this little babe from the second I met her. It’s that unconditional parent/child kind of love that total rocks your world and changes it in ways you never knew possible. So 5 days after your due date, 27 hours labor, 16 of those being natural labor, we welcomed little Charlie Rowan Foster into this little world of ours and our lives instantly changed but filled with more love than I could of ever...

Prego…Week by Week ish

Prego…Week by Week ish

Let’s be honest no one likes to take pictures of themselves with their inner fat kid showing on the outside!  Especially not when it feels like you are doubling in size week by week! However, I’ve asked my mom numerous times what she looked like during pregnancy and since there isn’t a single photo to be found the only thing I had to go on was “I was HUGE”  which I’m sure she felt but I can’t imagine she was.  So I’ve done my very best to cringe my way through documenting my pregnancy every few weeks and not deleting every “fat” photo that was taken. So as I’m sitting here 1 day overdue, wishing and praying (and maybe even shedding a few tears), for this baby to come out I’ve decide to see just how far me and this little one have come over the last 40 weeks…. December 5th, 2013 – 7 weeks I swear I peed on 5 of these things before I was convinced we were actually prego.  It was one of those things I wanted so bad I think I was afraid to believe it was actually true! December 27th, 2012 – 10 weeks I remember taking this photo and almost deleting it because I felt fat…little did I know!  Funny how different things are in retrospect! At 9 weeks I was craving a ton of dairy products (cheese, yogurt, milk) pretty much anything dairy I was all about and I was desperately missing coffee….but let’s be honest I’m still missing coffee!! January 16, 2013 – 12 weeks 12 weeks was when you feel chubby…like I might of just eaten 10 too many cookies during the holidays!  This is when I started borrowing looser fitting tops from Ma….again I felt HUGE…silly me, how little did I know what huge really felt/looked like! January 22, 2013 – 14 weeks This is the week E and I decided to start telling people the exciting news and of course I made Bozley do the announcing!  I mean it does do a pretty great job at it!  There is something really exciting and kind of scary all at the same time about announcing to your friends and family that your going to be parents….I remember feeling anxious about sharing the news for some strange reason. February 11, 2013 – 17 weeks 17 weeks, starting to get an official “bump” but still able to hide it!  I was obsessed with tomatoes, eating 4-5 a day just like an apple with salt.  Come to think of it I don’t know if I was more into the tomato or the salt! March 12th, 2013 – 21 weeks Still doing lots of yoga and running at this point and starting to become obsessed with fruit which has carried out through the rest of my pregnancy.  I think I’ve worked out more consistently since I’ve been pregnant than I had the previous 10 months…I guess it’s a plus size to worrying about getting “HUGE” like your mother.  (again I do not believe she was huge, but with no photos how will I ever know?!) March 23 rd, 2013 – 23 weeks One of the first nights that I started to wear my bump out loud and proud!  Looking back I think these few...
